Powered Up MU Push/Pull

I am pretty new to lego trains, I've had this one for a few years now, and am now wanting to get a second passanger train to make a push/pull MU, but I am curious how well this works with the Powered Up trains. I would assume I can't make the second engine a cab car, because it will need the battery box to power the EoT/taillights and from how this motor kinda struggles (it doesn't start to roll with one notch of power) with brand new battieres to pull just the two cars it would also need to...
