Odd gap between plates on the Upside Down set, no big pieces left

Sorry in advance for the post. I’ve finished building the Upside Down Lego set, but there’s a strange gap between the two plates, it seems to appear mostly in the center, but not on the left, for example. I’m not sure what’s causing it, and honestly, I’m a bit afraid to take apart the trees because the whole thing feels very fragile. Does anyone know what might be causing this?
