Ninjago is so good about linking its lore (Dragons Rising to S1-2 connection/theory)

In Dragons Rising we see that Arin has trouble learning spinjitzu the normal way. Lloyd, Egalt, and Rontu's method of teaching emphasizes balance to achieve the martial art, but Arin finds success more easily when he applies Ras' teachings, who tells him to channel his anger and hatred to force the technique to manifest.
