Ninjago headcannon

In the pilot Wu was coming to get the map not Kai or Nya, let me explain. I have had this headcannon since I first watched the show. The reason Kai wasn’t trained with the other three ninja is because Wu thought that he and his sister had disappeared/died with their parents. Because we know that Wu thought that Ray and Maya were dead, so why would Kai and Nya not be.
