Need Storage Advice

My son moved out and asked us to keep his collection safe for what looks to be several years. The image is about 1/4 of what he has. I was thinking the attic, but second thoughts of the heat made me question myself. Has anyone had experience on storing sets & loose bricks for an extended time?
