As we know irl, the writers didn't really know what to do with Lloyd's powers for most of the show's run, only really wanting to nail them down recently. Until Dragons Rising, we thought his element was just Power or Energy. Now that we know it's Life, though, it does explain why his ZX and Kimono suit symbols depicted a snake.
