Misako being a bad mother

So in season 2 we meet Misako (Lloyds mother), Lloyd obviously isn’t very pleased to see her cuz it’s been so long. Later on she finds him sitting near the bottomless pit, she goes on to explain why she was gone and he seems to understand why she left. No question that she was a bad mother and very neglectful but do you guys think the reason she gave him for why she left was justified or do you think she could’ve done something else to be there for him?
