Is this connection point really weak or did I miss something?

The connection point of the body onto the legs of the upscaled minifig feels super unstable, and the gap won’t close fully. Did I mess something up or is this how everyone else’s looks? My red MOC doesn’t have this same issue but I don’t remember what the instructions for that was.
