In Dragons Rising season 4 we were given a small callback to how Cole used to lead the ninja before Lloyd took over and in honestly so glad they brought that up. Like even though we didn't really SEE Cole lead the team he was still apparently the leader (said by Doc years before this season of Dragons Rising).
