Hogwarts Express - Collectors' Edition (76405)

Anyone ever made a functional version of this? I bought it a while ago in hopes of building with my daughter sometime. Didn't really know until much later on it isn't compatible with standard Lego track, but I'd like to build it to fit track instead of a display piece.
