Fixed Ducati Desmo 450 - 42238
Reddit user /u/Food_Brilliant has shared an impressive fan modification for set 42238 (Ducati Desmo 450), showcasing a custom revision that significantly improves the motorcycle's overall aesthetic and proportions. The builder successfully reworked the model's physical structure to address specific design limitations found in the official release.
The primary modifications focus on fixing the rake of the front forks and refining the plastic body shapes to create a much more realistic profile. While the revision sacrifices the traditional display stand that normally accompanies the set, it delivers major visual upgrades, particularly around the gas tank area where the new plastic shaping shines. Although the dark color scheme of the elements makes the build challenging to photograph in low light, the builder expresses high satisfaction with the final result.
The creator originally intended to style the build after a Stark Varg dirt bike, but the limited parts inventory of set 42238 made that specific conversion unfeasible. Currently, official custom instructions do not exist for this revision, though the builder has expressed a willingness to record a video or provide close-up photographs if community interest is high enough.
Fan-made modifications like this one breathe new life into existing releases and offer creative inspiration for builders tackling similar projects. When attempting your own custom motorcycle builds or part reconfigurations, having a reliable brick separator on hand makes dismantling and rebuilding your LEGO models much easier.

The dark plastics make it really hard to photograph well but I am especially happy with how the plastics around where the gasses tank should be. I don't...
