Does anyone else find the new rubber web pieces get damaged when put directly in a minifig hand?

When these were first introduced, they were held in minifig hands, but this would cause marks in the rubber. Then they started attaching them to bar pieces that minifigs would hold, and they wouldn't get damaged.
