Creamy Caramel Launcher
This Halloween, a LEGO enthusiast created a fun, candy-launching robot. The machine is designed to distribute small caramel candies to trick-or-treaters. The creator provides details on the build, including instructions and a downloadable program.
The robot uses a gravity-feed system and a rubber band-powered launching mechanism. It's built with the LEGO Mindstorms Robot Inventor set (51515), so builders with that set will have all the necessary pieces. The model is designed to launch small, square creamy caramel candies, similar in size to two stacked 2x2 LEGO bricks. The instructions include a free building guide in PDF format and a parts list on Rebrickable.
The program for the robot is straightforward. It uses a distance sensor to detect when something is within 10 cm. When triggered, the robot launches two candies by rotating the launch arms. The program (2415caramelLauncher.lms) is available for download, and the creator also provides an image to help builders recreate the program. The motors should be connected to ports A and B, and the distance sensor to port F.
If you're looking for a fun project to build with your kids, this candy-launching robot could be a great choice. You might want to consider getting a LEGO storage organizer to keep all your LEGO bricks organized.
