Building a cat requires... other cats?

I opened my LEGO Orange Cat last night. Before the first bag was torn open, a cat inhabited the box. After building bags 1 - 6, I put it away for the night. This morning I sat down to continue. A cat has, again, taken residence in the box lid. This is the first set I've purchased without any plastic bags - all paper! I've gotten a paper bag here and there, but never the entire set.
