Anyone feel like Lego is overly reliant on licenses?

I feel like Lego has become a glorified model company instead of something that inspires creativity due to their heavy reliance on licensed themes & sets for a long time now - almost every original theme they came out with in recent years has flopped massively besides Ninjago, and they constantly just spew out sets that have a ton of special parts that kind of underscore the point of Lego I can almost guarantee they would go under within 5 - 10 years if they had all of their licensed stuff...
