The Thing / Benjamin Grimm, Shorts

As one of the foundational members of Marvel's First Family, The Thing is an absolute must-have for comic book fans and superhero collectors alike. What makes this specific version of Benjamin Grimm so special is the incredible dedication to translating his rocky, orange-nougat mutated hide into LEGO form, featuring custom molded headwear and specialized torso printing that captures his unique stone-like texture. Collectors will want to pay close attention to the print quality on the rock-surface torso and the alignment of his signature scowling expression, as detailed textured prints are always prime targets for careful preservation.

Because this figure captures Ben Grimm in his classic shorts look rather than a more armored or specialized outfit, it serves as the definitive baseline version for any Marvel display. The integration of nougat boots and the distinct rock lines gives it a tactile feel that stands out vividly next to standard smooth-plastic minifigures. For serious collectors aiming to build out a complete Fantastic Four lineup, securing this flagship version from his debut wave is going to be priority number one.

Currently tied exclusively to a massive and highly anticipated 2026 flagship set, this iteration of The Thing starts its life with a distinct exclusivity advantage. Figures that debut in large-scale vehicle or playset releases often see high initial demand from buyers who want the character without necessarily purchasing the entire companion build, driving up individual aftermarket interest from day one.

Market data indicates that single-set exclusives featuring major Marvel characters typically maintain a strong value floor. Because he only appears in one set for now, supply will be directly tied to the shelf life and overall production run of that specific release, making early-wave copies particularly sought after by completionists.

When looking at the long-term investment potential, characters making their long-awaited debut in the brick medium always command strong secondary market attention. As a core member of a major cinematic universe team making their splash, this figure sits comfortably in a high-demand tier where historical superhero trends point toward steady, reliable appreciation.

Current value metrics for brand-new superhero debuts suggest that once the originating set retires, prices for the figure alone tend to climb significantly, especially among collectors who missed out on the initial retail window. Backed by solid character popularity and a unique mold design, this is a strong asset to hold for the medium-to-long term.
