Russell

Russell from Disney and Pixar's beloved film Up is a fantastic addition to any collection, perfectly capturing the optimistic and adventurous spirit of the Wilderness Explorer. This figure stands out due to its fantastic attention to detail, featuring his signature scout uniform complete with an orange scarf, dual-molded arms, and a combined hair-and-cap piece that nails his animated look. Collectors also appreciate the custom short legs with printed stripes, which accurately reflect his younger stature in the film.

When hunting for this figure, condition is relatively straightforward since it debuted recently, but you'll want to inspect the dual-molded arms and the printed torso for any micro-scratches. The trans-clear neckwear bracket adds a nice display dimension for his pack accessories, though it's a piece you'll want to handle carefully to avoid stress marks. Because he is currently tied to a single, highly popular set, complete specimens with all original components remain in high demand among Disney fans who might not want to buy the entire house build.

As a single-set appearance figure originating from the 2023 Up House (43217-1), Russell holds a moderate level of scarcity that is typical for retail Disney sets. Because the set is a standout tribute to a modern animated classic, it attracted significant attention from both general LEGO fans and casual movie enthusiasts upon release, keeping circulation steady.

However, once his debut set retires from store shelves, aftermarket availability will inevitably tighten. Market data for single-appearance characters of this caliber usually shows a steady upward trajectory in price once retail availability ceases, as completionists hunting for specific Disney characters scout the secondary market.

Russell earns a solid B+ investment grade thanks to the massive global appeal of the Pixar Up franchise and his status as an exclusive character design. While not an ultra-rare vintage find, characters carrying strong nostalgic weight from universally beloved films tend to perform very well over time as they transition out of active production.

Market data tracks steady baseline interest for figures originating from standalone Disney tribute sets. As the set inches closer to retirement, expect demand for this specific Wilderness Explorer to spike among collectors who prefer standalone characters over massive, space-consuming builds.
