Huckit Crab

The Huckit Crab is a charming, brick-built enemy character from the LEGO Super Mario universe, faithfully capturing the beach-dwelling pest first introduced in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Built with clever SNOT (Studs Not On Top) construction techniques across 16 elements, this compact red crustacean brings vibrant color and dynamic personality to custom Mario course layouts.

For collectors and Mario completists, the standout features are the dedicated printed elements: the signature wide-eyed expression tile and the scannable action barcode tile. Because the interactive tile triggers specific sound effects and coin rewards when scanned by electronic LEGO Mario, Luigi, or Peach figures, the figure possesses both visual shelf appeal and functional interactive value.

Unlike standard minifigures, the Huckit Crab is a modular, brick-built character that appeared primarily in the Dorrie's Beachfront Expansion Set (71398) released in 2022. Because it was not featured across multiple waves or widespread polybags, its distribution was tied directly to that specific coastal-themed expansion.

With the retirement of earlier Super Mario expansion waves, complete copies of the Huckit Crab with pristine, scratch-free printed action tiles and eye tiles are steadily becoming harder to find in secondary loose lots.

Brick-built LEGO Super Mario enemies represent a distinct niche in the LEGO investment landscape. While they generally do not command the astronomical premiums of licensed Star Wars or Super Heroes minifigures, complete enemy figures maintain consistent demand from fans looking to populate expansive custom display courses without purchasing full retired boxed sets.

The critical factor for value retention is the condition of the interactive barcode tile; worn or scratched tiles lose functional gameplay value, making mint-condition, complete builds the best target for modest, steady appreciation.
