Superboy

Superboy is an absolute must-have for DC Comics superfans and dedicated minifigure completionists alike, largely due to how infrequently he has been produced in LEGO form. Featuring his iconic New 52-inspired look complete with the edgy black t-shirt, red Superman 'S' logo, dual-molded arms, and textured jeans, this figure nails the rebellious aesthetic of Conner Kent. Collectors prize this specific version because it captures a distinct era of DC continuity that LEGO rarely revisits, making it a standout piece in any superhero display.

When hunting for this piece on the secondary market, condition is everything. Pay close attention to the dual-molded arms and the torso print, as the black sleeves meeting the light nougat hands can show wear if played with heavily. Additionally, the unique black tousled hairpiece with the side part and the stern, heat-vision-ready face print (complete with hollow studs typical of that era) are frequently separated from the body by loose-part sellers, so finding a complete, verified authentic specimen is a thrilling win for any collector.

The rarity of this Superboy minifigure is driven almost entirely by its exceptionally limited distribution. Released way back in 2014, he was locked behind a promotional Target Exclusive Minifigure Gift Set, meaning he was never available in standard retail waves or through direct-to-consumer flagship sets. Because buyers had to purchase a specific bundled pack rather than a themed superhero set, far fewer of these figures made it into general circulation compared to standard wave releases.

Since the gift set retired long ago, the supply of sealed boxes has dwindled, forcing collectors to source loose figures individually. This limited initial pool of production combined with high demand from completionists makes tracking down a pristine Superboy a genuinely challenging hunt.
