Martian, Altair - Lime Torso

Altair is one of the distinct named Martian characters from LEGO's beloved 2001 Space subtheme, Life on Mars. Known for breaking away from the standard minifigure mold, these Martians utilized Battle Droid mechanical torso and arm elements combined with unique molded alien heads and single-piece leg assemblies. This specific variant features a vibrant Lime torso and legs paired with a Dark Turquoise head detailed with orange hair and freckles.

Collectors look back at Life on Mars with immense nostalgia because it represented a peaceful human-alien coexistence narrative and introduced unforgettable neon/pastel color palettes. Altair represents an iconic piece of early-2000s LEGO Space history, making him a popular target for vintage Space enthusiasts looking to assemble the complete Martian council.

When hunting for this figure in the secondary market, pay close attention to the head clip element and the clips on the dark turquoise droid arms, as these early-2000s thin plastic clips are prone to stress marks, cracking, or breaking over time.

Altair with a Lime Torso appeared in only two sets, both released during the single-year run of the Life on Mars theme in 2001: set 7311 (Red Planet Cruiser) and small box/polybag release 7322 (Altair). Because of the short production window over two decades ago, mint-condition examples with unbroken clip arms and crisp head prints are becoming increasingly scarce.
