Rex, Blue, with Goggles

Rex is one of the core specialists of LEGO's beloved 2009 Power Miners theme. Known as the demolitions and heavy machinery expert, this version of Rex features an incredible level of character detail, including a double-sided head print showing stubble, grit smudges, an orange scar, and dual expressions ranging from determined grit to sheer panic.

What sets this specific minifigure apart is his detailed mining gear setup: a light bluish gray torso printed with a tool-laden blue vest over a sweat-stained undershirt, paired with the iconic dual-molded blue Power Miners helmet and dark bluish gray goggles. The inclusion of the clip-on goggles gives this figure a rugged, specialized appearance that distinctively separates him from standard crew variants.

For collectors of nostalgic late-2000s action themes, complete Power Miners figures are increasingly desirable. Condition is critical for this figure, as the delicate clips on the goggles can stretch or snap over time, and the distinctive helmet's printed lights and breathing tubes are prone to play wear.

Released in 2009 and featured primarily in the retired Rock Wrecker (8963-1) set, this goggled version of Rex had a relatively short production window. The Power Miners line ran for only two years before concluding in 2010, limiting the overall circulation of the theme's specialized minifigures.

While standard Power Miners crew members were fairly accessible during the initial wave, finding this specific goggled configuration in mint condition with undamaged headwear accessories has become noticeably challenging on the secondary market.

Minifigures from late-2000s in-house LEGO themes like Power Miners, Atlantis, and Space Police III have seen a resurgence in collector interest as fans who grew up during that era enter the adult collecting market. While rock monsters from the theme often capture headlines, core named miners like Rex provide steady aftermarket appeal.

Given the permanently retired status of the theme and the lack of modern remakes, this figure offers stable long-term value retention. Minifigures with complete, undamaged headwear accessories command a consistent premium over loose or incomplete parts.
