Shimada Henchman

The Shimada Henchman is a fascinating piece for both gaming fans and LEGO collectors alike, originating from the short-lived but beloved Overwatch theme. While the main draw of the set he comes in was the iconic ninja brothers, this generic foot soldier adds essential world-building and display value for anyone looking to recreate the epic cinematic clashes from the Hanamura map. The sleek black jacket over a white shirt gives him a sharp, organized crime aesthetic that fits right into the lore of the Shimada clan.

For condition purists, assembling an authentic figure requires paying attention to the specific dual-expression head featuring a surprised and scared print with a chin dimple, paired with the classic swept-back black hairpiece with a forelock. Because the theme had a relatively brief run before retiring, finding these lesser-known background characters in pristine, unplayed-with condition is becoming increasingly satisfying for dedicated completionists who want every corner of the Overwatch universe represented on their shelves.

Rarity is one of the strongest selling points for the Shimada Henchman, as he was confined to a single retail release during the entire lifespan of the theme. Unlike main heroes who saw various redesigns or multiple set appearances, this specific goon is locked behind the retirement of the Hanzo vs. Genji battle pack, making him a true hidden gem of the lineup.

Because the set he belongs to is long retired, aftermarket availability is entirely dependent on secondary platforms and parted-out inventory from sellers. Market data shows that troop-builders and theme completionists often overlook these generic figures initially, leading to a tighter supply of loose, complete figures as years pass and sealed sets become too expensive to open just for the side characters.

When looking at the investment potential of this figure, it sits comfortably in a niche collector space. While generic guards and henchmen from massive giants like Star Wars or Marvel command high prices, theme-specific grunts from retired gaming properties tend to have a more localized, passionate collector base. However, as sealed sets appreciate, the individual components—especially unique torso prints and specialized head prints—tend to rise in tandem as collectors piece together complete rosters.

Based on current market data and the single-set exclusivity, this figure earns a solid B rating for investors. It may not skyrocket overnight like a flagship hero, but its scarcity outside of that one 2019 box ensures steady, reliable demand from completionists who refuse to leave gaps in their display shelves.
