Astromech Droid, R2-D2, Light Bluish Gray Dome

The R2-D2 minifigure, with its light bluish gray dome, is a must-have for any serious LEGO Star Wars collector. As one of the most iconic and beloved droids in cinematic history, R2-D2's LEGO representation is highly sought after. The detailed printing on the droid's body and dome captures the character's personality and design, making it a visually appealing addition to any collection.

Collectors appreciate this particular version of R2-D2 for its wide availability across various sets, spanning different price points and themes within the Star Wars universe. While not exclusive to a single set, its presence in numerous iconic sets like the X-Wing Starfighter and the R2-D2 model ensures continued demand.

This R2-D2 variant appears in 14 different LEGO sets released between 2009 and 2013, making it relatively common compared to some exclusive minifigures. While not particularly rare, its widespread availability also means that finding one in good condition can be a challenge, as many have been played with or exposed to sunlight. The sheer number of sets it appears in does temper its rarity, but the continued popularity of Star Wars ensures a steady demand on the aftermarket.
