Butterfly Girl

Hey there, fellow collectors! If you are looking for a figure that screams pure LEGO charm, the Butterfly Girl from Series 17 of the Collectible Minifigures line is an absolute must-have. What makes her such a massive hit among fans is the incredible attention to detail and the sheer playfulness of her design. From her bright light yellow off-center ponytail adorned with tiny printed flowers to her lopsided grin and the adorable blue flower printed right on her cheek, every inch of this figure radiates personality. Her dual-molded short legs with magenta open-toe shoes really pull the spring-time costume together in a way that standard parts just cannot match.

Of course, the absolute crowning glory of this minifigure is the specialized trans-dark pink butterfly wing piece that snaps around her neck. It is a stunning, translucent element complete with vibrant magenta and blue printing that catches the light beautifully on display. When putting together a complete collection of insect-themed costumed characters—which are a massive sub-genre within the collectible lineup—finding a Butterfly Girl in pristine condition is a priority for many enthusiasts. Condition-wise, collectors always want to check that the delicate printing on the torso tank top and the face are unblemished, and that the butterfly wings are free from stress marks or scratches.

As a blind-bag character from a classic Collectible Minifigures series released back in 2017, the Butterfly Girl has been safely retired for quite some time now. Because these series are only produced for a relatively short window before being replaced by the next wave, the supply is firmly capped. You will only find her in her original individual blind bag and the single series release set, meaning there are no re-releases or advent calendar appearances to flood the secondary market with extra copies.

Market data shows that while she was reasonably plentiful upon her initial debut, sealed bags and complete figures with all their original accessories—especially that translucent wing piece—have become steadily harder to source in mint condition. Regional distribution and the tactile nature of feeling for blind bags meant many were opened and played with by younger builders, making well-preserved adult collector specimens a bit of a localized hunt these days.

When analyzing the investment potential of costumed characters from the blind-bag series, the Butterfly Girl holds a very respectable position among fans of the theme. The Collectible Minifigures umbrella consistently commands solid long-term interest because builders love completing character sets, and insect and animal costume figures historically perform quite well on the secondary market. Current value trends indicate steady appreciation, driven largely by nostalgia and the ongoing demand for unique display pieces that stand out next to standard city or licensed figures.

However, prospective investors should keep a few things in mind: the market for collectible figures can fluctuate based on broader economic trends and shifts in community collecting habits. If LEGO decides to revisit a similar butterfly costume in a future series, it could temporarily cool demand for this specific version. Even so, her unique parts—particularly those translucent wings and the printed short legs—ensure she will likely remain a sought-after piece for dedicated fans, making her a fun and engaging addition to a diversified minifigure portfolio.
