Professor Webb / Locust with Airtanks

Professor Webb, also known as the Locust with Airtanks, is a highly sought-after minifigure from the classic LEGO Insectoids theme. Collectors are drawn to its unique design elements, including the trans-green bubble helmet, detailed torso printing featuring circuitry and hoses, and the distinctive airtanks neckwear. The Insectoids theme itself has a dedicated following, making minifigures from this line desirable additions to any collection.

The condition of Professor Webb is a crucial factor for collectors. Minifigures with intact printing, undamaged helmets, and unblemished accessories command a premium.

Professor Webb appears exclusively in a single set, the Mosquito (3070-1), released in 1999. This limited availability immediately establishes a degree of rarity. Given the age of the set and the relatively short production run of the Insectoids theme, Professor Webb is not commonly found on the aftermarket, making it a relatively scarce minifigure.

While not a regional exclusive or special edition, the age and single-set appearance are primary drivers of its rarity. Finding complete sets with the minifigure in good condition is even more challenging, adding another layer of scarcity for serious collectors.
