LEGO Marvel is now about five times the size of LEGO DC by sets on sale, and it leads on adult display sets too. DC is almost all Batman. Here is how the two lines compare in our catalog, the flagships of each, and who should collect which.
LEGO Marvel is now the much bigger of the two superhero lines. Our catalog lists 41 Marvel sets with a US price on sale against 8 for DC, and Marvel also has more of the large adult display sets that used to be DC's strength. DC is almost entirely Batman, and its best-known flagships, the 1989 Batmobile, the Batwing and the Tumbler, have all retired. The choice comes down to the universe you love, and what each line actually sells today.

The yearly counts include small promotional sets, so read them as the size of each line rather than a count of boxed sets. The pattern holds every year: Marvel has been about three times DC's size since 2023.
LEGO Marvel today
Marvel spreads across Avengers, Spider-Man, X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy, the Fantastic Four and two 4+ lines for young children, so there is a set at almost every price. It also holds three of the largest superhero sets on sale:
Avengers Tower: the largest superhero set on sale, an 18+ display build of the team's headquarters with a large cast of minifigures.
S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier: the 2026 flagship, an 18+ display model of the flying aircraft carrier.
The X-Mansion: the X-Men's school as an 18+ display set, expected to leave LEGO's range on December 31, 2026.
Iron Man Mark 3 Collectors' Edition: a 2026 18+ display model of Tony Stark's armour.
Below those, Marvel's range runs through mid-size play sets such as Spider-Man vs. Hulk Epic Clash and character builds such as the Spider-Man Hero Figure, down to small battle sets.

LEGO DC today
DC on sale is Batman almost from end to end, and 2026 marked 20 years of LEGO Batman with a Batman Logo display set and three new small Batmobiles, all released on March 1, 2026. The large adult set is Arkham Asylum:
Arkham Asylum: DC's 18+ flagship, the asylum with a large cast of Batman's villains, expected to leave LEGO's range on December 31, 2026.
Batman Returns Batmobile: a 2026 display Batmobile from the 1992 film. Our catalog is still waiting on its US listing details.
Batman Forever Batmobile: a mid-size display Batmobile, expected to leave LEGO's range on December 31, 2026.
Batman Logo: the 20th anniversary display piece, which hangs on a wall or stands on its own base.

For young children
This is the clearest difference. Marvel's Spidey and His Amazing Friends and Iron Man and His Awesome Friends lines are marked 4+, the sets LEGO makes for children moving up from DUPLO. DC has nothing comparable on sale: its youngest current set is marked 8+.

The retired flagships
Much of what made DC the collector's choice a few years ago has now left LEGO's range. Our catalog lists all of these as retired, so they are sold only second hand:
- DC: the 1989 Batmobile, the 1989 Batwing and the Batmobile Tumbler.
- Marvel: the Daily Bugle and the Sanctum Sanctorum.

Which should you collect?
Collect LEGO Marvel if you:
- Want the widest choice of heroes, teams and price points
- Are buying for a young child, since only Marvel has 4+ sets
- Want one of the largest superhero display sets on sale
- Follow the films and want sets from them
Collect LEGO DC if you:
- Love Batman above every other hero
- Want Arkham Asylum before it leaves at the end of 2026
- Collect Batmobiles across the films
Collect both if you:
- Love superheroes regardless of universe; the sets share the same bricks and minifigure scale
The verdict
For variety and young children: LEGO Marvel, clearly. It has about five times as many sets on sale and the only 4+ superhero lines.
For the largest display sets on sale: also Marvel today, with the Avengers Tower and the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier.
For Batman fans: DC, starting with Arkham Asylum while it is still sold new, then the Batmobiles.
