Should I have explained how Lego works to the charity shop (thrift store) in this instance? 😂
LEGO enthusiasts in the UK often find secondhand sets at charity shops, also known as thrift stores. The pricing and selling methods can be quite interesting, as highlighted in a recent online discussion.
One user shared their experiences with charity shops, noting the wide range in prices. They mentioned finding complete boxes of LEGO for as little as £5, while some rare sets were priced at £200 or more. The user also encountered a shop attempting to sell a set, possibly from the Harry Potter theme, in individual bags. The user was unsure if this method offered good value.
The post emphasizes the unpredictable nature of finding LEGO in charity shops. The pricing can vary dramatically, and the way sets are sold can be unusual.
For those looking to expand their LEGO collection, exploring local charity shops could lead to some unexpected finds. You might even discover a LEGO storage organizer to keep your new treasures in order.
In the Uk, charity shops (I.e. thrift shops) are great for finding secondhand Lego sets. However, the way it’s sold is sometimes amusing! I’ve seen full boxes of Lego sold for £5, and then very unrare sets labelled for £200+ Yesterday, I saw a shop trying to sell a set as individual bags! Not sure what the set was, possibly Harry Potter? But yeah, I couldn’t work out if it was good value or not! submitted by /u/Artistic-Ideal-5087 [link] [comments]
