Reaching for the sky with a Sennebogen
The Brothers Brick recently featured a custom LEGO build of a Sennebogen telescopic handler, a unique construction vehicle perfect for minifigure-scale projects. The builder combined the Sennebogen with a Mercedes Actros tractor and a custom trailer, creating a detailed and functional model.
The build started with the Mercedes Actros tractor, based on an existing model. The trailer, designed to carry the Sennebogen, features lowered wells for the handler's wheels to reduce the overall height. The builder used tiles and half-stud offsets to construct these wells, as cheese slopes didn't provide enough space for the wheels. The Sennebogen itself includes several functional features, such as a telescopic boom that can be raised and lowered and four-wheel steering. The operator's cab, designed to fit a minifigure, can also be raised and lowered.
The biggest challenge was building the operator's cab, which required careful use of panels to maximize interior space. The builder also created a work platform and a forklift attachment for the arm, adding to the vehicle's versatility. With the arm and cab folded down, the Sennebogen and its attachments fit neatly on the trailer, making the entire setup compact and transportable.
This custom LEGO build demonstrates the creativity and ingenuity of LEGO enthusiasts. If you're inspired to create your own construction vehicles, you might find a brick separator helpful for making adjustments during your build.
What is a Sennebogen, you may wonder? It is the manufacturer of a telescopic handler, recreated by TBB's own Ralph Savelsberg and perfect for minifigures who need to work in high places. The post Reaching for the sky with a Sennebogen appeared first on The Brothers Brick.
