Mining Cornwall
Beat Felber has created an impressive LEGO replica of the Ruston-Bucyrus 195-B electric rope shovel, a massive machine used in open-cast mining in Cornwall, UK. This model, built at a 1:28.5 scale, is a testament to Felber's engineering skills and attention to detail.
The Ruston-Bucyrus 195-B replica is packed with electronics to bring it to life. It features four Power Functions motors for the tracks, two for the swing motion, another for the main winch, and an eighth for the dipper handle. Additionally, two CaDA micromotors power the bucket door release and a motorized access ladder. The model is illuminated with two sets of LEDs and is remotely controlled via twin SBricks.
This impressive build joins Felber's previously featured Terex 33-11C mining truck, creating a dynamic duo reminiscent of 1980s Cornish mining operations. The model is a fantastic recreation of a significant piece of mining history.
For LEGO enthusiasts interested in showcasing their own builds, consider getting a LEGO display case to protect and display your creations.
