BlockTalk BlockTalk Summary

A LEGO fan has recreated the "Barbie DreamVette" car from the movie *Gremlins* to better suit their Gizmo minifigure. The creator, /u/Admonisher66, designed the custom vehicle because the original LEGO Dimensions Gremlins Team Pack included a generic red remote-control car instead of the pink car Gizmo drives in the film.

The custom build uses a variety of LEGO pieces. The most uncommon parts are the two curved wedges for the hood, which are only available in bright pink from the Lilo & Stitch Angel set and the Fortnite Mecha Team Leader. The 8-spoke 11mm wheel rims, released only in white in the 2017 Creator set "Red Racer," were also used. The creator notes that while there are more common white rims in that size, these are a closer match to the toy. The build also features a few alternative pieces, such as swapping 1 x 3 plates in bright pink for some 1 x 2 and 1 x 1 plates. The front bumper could also use two 2 x 2 magenta wedge tiles from the Speed Champions F1 ACADEMY LEGO Race Car. The creator also swapped out Gizmo's legs for the variant with light nougat feet from the "Harry Potter in Pajamas" CMF.

The creator shared a gallery with an overview of the pieces used and an exploded view, allowing others to try recreating the vehicle. The project was created because the creator felt the original LEGO set was missing an essential detail.

Maybe a licensing issue with Mattel? Anyway ... despite LEGO not producing any small vehicle mudguards in pink, which would have made this a lot easier, I decided to take a stab at recreating the screen-accurate vehicle. And despite the square wheel wells, I'm pretty pleased with how...
