Am I gonna have to play 9090 piece pickup?
The LEGO fan community is discussing the best way to display large LEGO sets, particularly when wall space is limited. A user on Reddit, /u/cartonofmilk420, is seeking opinions on a shelving setup designed to hold large LEGO sets. The user is concerned about the stability of the setup, given the weight of the sets and the lack of wall studs for support.
The shelving unit utilizes brackets secured to the wall with drywall anchors. Each bracket is attached with two screws. The brackets are spaced approximately two feet apart, and the shelf itself is not directly attached to the brackets to minimize any lever effect. The user has also pushed the shelf against the wall to further stabilize it. The primary concern is whether this setup will adequately support the weight of the LEGO sets without the benefit of being mounted to wall studs.
The user's post highlights a common challenge for LEGO enthusiasts: finding effective and safe ways to display their collections, especially when space is at a premium. The absence of wall studs necessitates alternative mounting solutions, and the user is seeking feedback on the viability of their chosen method. They also mention the lack of alternative display options, such as using flagpoles or masts, due to space constraints.
For LEGO fans looking to display their sets, ensuring the stability and safety of the display is paramount. Consider using LEGO display case to protect your sets from dust and damage.
I want some opinions on if this will hold. each bracket has 2 screws with 45lb drywall anchors, unfortunately no stud in the wall. the spacing is about 2 feet in between the brackets and the shelf is not attatched into the bracket to try and minimize any lever effect, I also pushed it against the wall as much as I can. I also dont have space anywhere else for it to be seen, so no flagpole/masts for me right now. :( submitted by /u/cartonofmilk420 [link] [comments]
